Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends.

The Prime Minister - Love Actually

It's true isn't it? Airports never cease to amaze me with the amount of emotion just oozing out of each individual making their way through the gates, both departure and arrival. It's like this gateway to a person's heart because that's when you're most vulnerable - allowing somebody to exit your life be it temporary or permanently, or even barracading through the walls that you've so carefully built up once the person you've been waiting for walks through that terminal. One word, magical.

Ok, that was just a bunch of emotional crap. An airport's an airport, anything else and it'll be frickin' literature.

ANYHOO...

People always talk about how they've met the most interesting people on board their flights or at the airports and I'm always going "wtf is your definition of interesting because the people I've met so far are old and boring"; so maybe that's why this trip around fate threw a handful at me - to get me to stop bitching.

First person:
Old lady who was pushing 60 (didn't know that had she not told me) was travelling all the way to the States getting married to a *gasp* Muslim boy. Needless to say I didn't tell her that I had come from Islamabad and that I was a full fledged Muslim :)

Second person:
Who would've thought that I of all people would be considered as jailbait? I had this one old dude sitting his fat ass down next to me and started chatting me up. So I'm like friggin' jet lagged and don't think much of his "nice" *coughpervertcough* words until he goes "here's my card, what's your name?" What's my name? Holy shit. Should I lie? OF COURSE I SHOULD LIE. "Um..Sharista" Note: Whenever in doubt, use your cousins name during identity crises. "Ah, what does it mean?" What does it mean? How the fuck am I supposed to know? "uh..Idk. My parents just went here, random name" Random name? Gosh..are you that idiotic? "Ah, I see. Do you want to get something to eat?" At an airport? Seriously? And did I not already tell you I was 17 and waitaminit...is that your hand making its way to my thigh?! "Uh no thanks, I've gotta board now. Bye"

Third person:
This was truely the saddest case. Like, you always see this kinda emotional crap on TV and I always thought, "Oh God, here we go again" but when you encounter it in real life, it just paints you a whole new picture. Jose was his name - an American Air Force member stationed in an Outpost out of Qatar. Bald, chubby, and just pretty much an all round nice guy, Jose was heading back home. Happy thoughts right? Wrong. Jose was heading home to spend his last moments with his terminally ill sister. When that bomb shell was laid, I swore I heard him choke up, and at that instant he walked away.

For what it's worth, I hope his sister'll be alright, and that perv gets laid soon enough, and that that lady actually likes her son-in-law. For what it's worth, I hope I'll get the chanc to meet more people like them (maybe less of the second guy). For what it's worth......................................I hope they all don't find my blog on google =_="

I'M BACK :D

*celebratory music ensues*

Ah, it's been a long 6 weeks in the land of Osama bin Laden's alleged hiding spot - which btw, was totally awesome - the relaxation that is, not his hideout. The long post regarding details about the trip shall come later; however, you can view some of the pictures on my facebook ;D

But alas, I must hit the sack - jet lag is just another word for mentally-killing-you-by-messing-around- with-your-coordination-so-as-to-allow-you-to-randomly-hit-objects-which-include-among- others-doors-and-sinks-in-very-very-delicate-areas =_="
